New Moon: 17 Feb 2026 10:02pm (local time - Kurrajong NSW, Australia)
Moon in Aquarius

This New Moon is a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius trining Uranus the modern ruler of Aquarius, in Taurus. With Saturn, the traditional ruler of Aquarius, just having ingressed into Aries on the 14th (where he will stay until April 2028). This eclipse also is the first of the Leo-Aquarius axis series of eclipses, marking the beginning of the shift from the current series of Virgo-Pisces eclipses. What that means is that we will all be feeling the eclipse energy of "beginnings and endings" in a new set of houses in our personal charts.
This is a pretty potent New Moon even though much energy at play is obscured either through the shifting of new cycles, or the eclipse energy, or because the personal planets are all currently still hidden "under the beams of the Sun" - so close that they are still "invisible" (roughly 15-17 degrees from solar conjunction). Mercury is the exception and has just pulled away far enough to regain visibility.
Eclipses bring change. Normal understanding and logic tend not to apply. Things can feel a bit wild and and we can seem a bit more unmoored than usual. Its like our usual filters for seeing and understanding the world and ourselves are blocked or removed allowing a different kind of sense perception to manifest. It is striking enough that when eclipse season passes something different has entered into our awareness which shifts the trajectory of understanding and perspective in those areas of our charts. This current eclipse season goes from 9 Feb - 11 March. So it builds and ebbs before the 1st eclipse falling on the 17th and the last on 3 March. Those eclipses are like peak points but with the entire time between the eclipses acting as a period of activation. So pay attention between these two lunations and see if you can notice the seeds of major changes in your life and awareness that happen at this time. Because the nature of eclipses, these seeds will be small and potentially seem inconsequential, but they will mark important changes in your houses where they fall.
When the New Moon is in Aquarius we can expect some radical vision or almost otherworldly 'message' to inspire or take root inside of us. Aquarius energy is that of fixed air, so it is a bit cold and hard to reach. It always reminds me of deep space. Something about Aquarius is unknowable, but as the natural ruler of the 11th house, it is also an energy that is deeply committed to community, networking and broader hopes. Eclipses are less a time to be actively planting seeds unless you can be very detached from outcome, and more of a time to just really pay attention and keep your heart and mind open. Flexibility and non-attachment are key during the wild card of eclipse season. Energy does not follow its normal patterns and so neither will magic or intentions of rituals and manifestation practices. This is a good time to just rest and breath and notice what arises for you and within you.  Sometimes it is beneficial to be the magician, using what influence you have to guide outcomes, but other times it is more beneficial to be a mystic, using what influence you have to quiet your mind and be present to the awe and mystery, seeing what is actually there and awake enough to act and move clearly in the unfolding moment.
Saturn and Neptune make a momentous conjunction (exact on the 21 Feb), but truly the shift in this new Aries energy pattern begins on the 14th when Saturn entered Aries. Neptune's ingress back in January was like the first shoe dropping into Aries. This sign change marks a whole new era for our spiritual and visionary prowess and focus as well as our ability to check out and delude ourselves. Saturn's ingress is like the 2nd shoe in Aries, bringing with it the consequences of material reality and finite resources. This eclipse falling so quickly after is the wild card energy that will initiate the unfolding of the new Aries vibe. Aries while on the one hand being very martial and confrontational, is also the energy that embodies courage and the focus of will. We cannot change the energy that is playing out, but we can choose how we respond to them. This is the beauty of having an Aquarius New Moon at this time, because Aquarius is the most far seeing and prophetic sign in the zodiac. It understands how to put aside its small self and focus on the needs of the larger community. It is the Path Finder and also the Visionary. It's symbol is the "Water Bearer" which seems a strange symbol for an air sign, but at its root is the one who comes and brings life-giving sustenance to those who are weary and those who thirst. With this New Moon trining Uranus we also have this energy in supportive aspect to the cosmic Change Maker who is still in the sign of Taurus the builder. It means that we have a  magical moment - a portal if you will where ANYTHING can happen and take root and grow. So my advice is to stand clear and strong in your own roots of loving kindness and compassionate presence - whatever that means for you, as we all get to be in our authentic individuality with Aquarius. If we do this, than this is what we offer to the eclipse energy to "play" with. If we bring distraction, fear, aggression and small stories of self and other, than this is what the eclipses will have to play with as well. Remember we are always co-creating with the universe and Aries is not so much about fighting and conflict, as much as it is about BEING. So what can you BE at this time? If you can envision it, you can BE it... this time is not about becoming, it is about BEING. Be the Change you want to see in the World.
